The pursuit of knowledge and professional fulfillment led Avi across the country — though originally from California, she headed east to pursue her education. Avi received a BA in Communications in Ohio, then went on to graduate school for Social Work and Education in Maryland. From there, she carved a career for herself in the nonprofit sector. 

In 1998, she began working in family education in Boston, Massachusetts. Avi gained invaluable interpersonal skills throughout her three years in this role, learning to tailor her guidance to the needs of each family.  By 2001, she was made the Director of Education. In this role, she guided the service of over 550 families in the Boston area and the surrounding suburbs. The opportunity proved formative for Avi, allowing her to gain a strategic yet personable approach to leadership. 

“The skills I learned through that work have been immensely valuable,” Avi said. “I think it really helped me understand team dynamics and helped me understand people.”

Avi learned how to wear many hats in a team environment. By the end of her four years in this role, she had developed invaluable leadership qualities — from the soft skills of interpersonal communication to the hard skills of budgeting and contract negotiation. 

Though she enjoyed her time in the educational world, Avi set her sights on new opportunities upon moving to St. Louis. She held deep experience in the design and implementation of educational training programs, database management and project management — she just needed a new outlet to implement them. 

By 2012, Ksquared Search’s team of expert executive recruiters welcomed Avi as manager of operations and finance. Though the executive search industry had not been on her radar, she quickly found that the skills gained from previous roles were transferable to executive solutions. 

“I took my administrative, organizational, and finance skills from the work I did running the school and brought them over to this new path for me,” Avi said. 

Her organizational prowess helped the Ksquared team grow and reach new levels of success. Her dedication to the success of the firm was quickly recognized by leadership. After five years, Avi was promoted to Chief Operating Officer — a role she still holds today. 

As COO, Avi streamlines day-to-day operations. She oversees internal research as well as client, candidate, and financial management processes. Her role empowers client-facing teams to efficiently leverage structured, scalable platforms from which they deliver executive solutions. Ultimately, she ensures that our team of expert executive recruiters stays on the same page strategically. 

“I am able to look at the big picture of what everybody is doing and help road map how we go forward,” Avi said. 

Avi has witnessed many evolutions of Ksquared Search over the past 12 years. As she’s watched the firm implement emerging technology and expand its client base, she’s been proud to see that the Ksquared team’s philosophy has endured despite constant change. 

“What’s really amazing is that as [Ksquared Search] has grown, the core values of customer service and the white-glove service have remained,” Avi said. “I don’t think that’s easy to do.”

Unlike our team of expert executive recruiters, Avi does not personally conduct search work. However, she still maintains a strong hand in every client partnership. She takes time to get to know each layer of the teams she works with, ensuring that every organization receives the outstanding service that our firm has become known for. Both internally and externally, she feels that Ksquared Search brings together impressive people.
